Anyone who has written a book wants to see it in a bookstore.
To have a reading, in a bookstore, is both a dream and, for a variety of inevitable and unfortunate circumstances, far from an obligatory part of the process.
For this I can thank the excellent people at the Winchester Book Gallery. It’s wonderful to see a genuine independent bookstore still open, still serving the community, still endorsing and promoting writing (and writers). It’s humbling to have received the invitation to read, and it was a genuine honor to appear: this is bucket list type stuff.
There are numerous ironies at play: 2013 signals an era where (again for many reasons, some of which I’ve discussed in detail HERE) the traditional model and old fashioned bookstores are disappearing; it’s also an era where someone with a small camera can record the moment, saving it for posterity. I love the idea of being able to share these moments with the people who weren’t able to be there. It’s in that spirit of sharing that I offer up another video. Let me know what you think!
