Two perfect songs for a rainy day (two perfect songs, period) from the great Pat Martino’s first album as a leader, El Hombre.
This is a fantastic album (deep, soulful organ grooves from Trudy Pitts, propulsive when appropriate drumming from Mitch Fine and Martino establishing himself as a young master who is equally comfortable with quicksilver runs and laid back grooves). More on Martino, who made music anyone can/should appreciate, in the near future.
