So I was getting my air fiddle on –much to the amusement and/or horror of my fellow commuters– this A.M. to the epic “The Devil Went Down To Georgia”. A finer driving song you’d be hard-pressed to find. But each time I hear it (and I hear it infrequently enough that I’m always pleased when it comes on) I’m troubled by the same thing.
I can still love the song, even though Charlie Daniels is an imbecilic tea-bag enthusiast.
My issue is this: how did Johnny manage to keep his soul when it is obvious the Devil’s solo was superior?
Anyone else troubled by this?
