Ian Anderson is alive and well, and living in…Italy.
And he is going by the name of Andrea Vercesi.
Well, in a manner of speaking. I was on a bit of a Tull kick this past weekend (not an uncommon occurrence) and was sharing that fact with my main man Tony James (the only person I’ve met with whom I can go toe-to-toe regarding all things Jethro…Toe), and I was simply sending Tony a link to this great tune. I happened to notice a cover by the gentleman named above, and then noticed he seemed to have several other covers. Obviously I had to check it out. And I’m glad I did. What a pleasant surprise for a languid Monday afternoon.
I was going to place these versions alongside the originals, but figure everyone who knows Tull already knows how they sound (or can easily go find them on YouTube).
I know, right?
Oh, you want more?
Finally, for now (don’t worry, there is more where this came from on YouTube):
Well played sir. Literally. I’m happy to share the love and I send a heartfelt shout out to Mr. Vercesi. From a deadbeat to an old greaser, here’s thinking of you!
Cheerio!

Oh My God!
You’re talking about me? You’re crazy man… So, thanks a lot for your compliments. I love Tull music and I love Anderson. I’m working on a new cd of my songs with 3 Jethro Tull past members as guests: Clive Bunker, Jonathan Noyce and Andrew Giddings. If you want more informations please send me a mail to andrea_vercesi@libero.it
I can also visit my Myspace http://www.myspace.com/vercesiandrea or my Youtube page searching “andrea vercesi”. Thanks to all for you interest about my music and my way to play! Best wishes from Italy. Andrea
