Hey Morriganna,

Thanks for checking it out, and I love your remarks. also agreed that among the underwhelming list of current candidates, Nick Cave is arguably one of the very few who have the charisma and the intelligence.

Your vision of the nursing home is at once hilarious and horrifying.

Cheers-

followed the link you posted in Salon today and just wanted to let you know how much i enjoyed your article. very nice analysis.

the only modern band i can think of that comes close to their sound/spirit is some of Nick Cave's work, especially "Loverman". he lacks morrison's overwhelming stage presence (can you really describe the effect and NOT invoke Dionysus?), but he more than makes up for it lyrically.

i've often found myself pondering what the hell my generation will look like at ninety, eyes glazed, rocking softly in the nursing home rec room, singing along together in cracked, wandering voices: "With the lights out, it's less dangerous, Here we are now, entertain us...", as a young janitor drifts by. creepy.

maybe we should mandate that all gen-Xers learn to hum at least one Boys II Men song before before they hit 60. less drool for the nurses to clean up.

dignity, always dignity.
